Our Mission
The United Way of Dodge City is a community service organization dedicated to promoting public financial and volunteer support, in partnership with our partner agencies, to improve the quality of life and the standard of living for this in our area.
Our Goals
Everyone deserves opportunities to have a good life: a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family through retirement, and good health.
That’s why United Way’s work is focused on the building blocks for a good life:
- Education – Helping Children and Youth Achieve Their Potential
- Health – Improving People’s Health
- Financial Stability – Promoting Financial Stability and Independence
Advancing the common good is less about helping one person at a time and more about changing systems to help all of us. We are all connected and interdependent. We all win when a child succeeds in school, when families are financially stable, when people are healthy.
United Way’s goal is to create long-lasting changes by addressing the underlying causes of these problems. Living united means being a part of the change. It takes everyone in the community working together to create a brighter future. Give. Advocate. Volunteer. LIVE UNITED.
Our Diversity Statement and Policy
United Way of Dodge City embraces diversity and believes that to improve people’s lives and our community, it must strive to ensure that the staff, board of directors, volunteers and partner organizations reflect the diversity of the community. Diversity promotes the inclusion of different perspectives and ideas.
United Way of Dodge City has long been committed to diversity. To value diversity is to respect and appreciate race, religion, skin color, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, gender identity, physical abilities, age, parental status, work and behavioral styles. United Way of Dodge City recognizes that diversity is a critical component to achieving success in an ever-changing environment.
Our History
In 1946, a group of Dodge City/Ford County businessmen and civic leaders felt the time was right for the Dodge City area to organize a Community Chest. The organization was created to serve as an agent to collect funds for local charities. The name Community Chest was widely used for United Way organizations until the 1950s. Over 60 years later - and now recognized as the United Way of Dodge City, we continue to raise funds and focus on mobilizing the caring power of communities and making a difference in people’s lives. The purpose of the organization has remained constant throughout all of these years. The United Way of Dodge City raises funds in the community for education, better health and wellness, and income stability.
